Our piece picking robot, the PickrMate, just got better

Pickr AI – July 8, 2024
We’re excited to announce the latest iteration of our piece-picking robot, PickrMate. The original model operated effectively, yet it still had the feel of a prototype in a testing phase. Now, after dedicating several months to enhancements, we’re proud to present a significantly improved PickrMate, designed to deliver even greater benefits to our customers.

So, what did we do?

One of the first upgrades is the elimination of external cabling. This not only enhances the robot’s appearance but also minimizes the risk of entanglement in racks and other obstacles. This refinement is a major step towards a sleeker and more efficient design.

Next, we addressed a mechanical limitation in the gripper. Previously, its tilting mechanism was not as effective as we intended. This tilting functionality is crucial as it allows the gripper to both fetch those oddly placed items but also transition seamlessly from a piece-picking tool to a bin handling tool. With this bug fixed, the PickrMate’s versatility and efficiency are significantly boosted.
Lastly, we’ve reorganized the robot’s internal structure, and incorporated a convenient service hatch. This design change is a direct response to feedback regarding the initial model, which was less user-friendly during inspections and maintenance.

Are we satisfied with these improvements?

Absolutely! The increased quality, accuracy and enhanced functions not only boost the PickrMate’s performance but also its utilization. E.g, why have one robot doing piece picking and a separate system to do bin handling when you can have both in our beloved PickrMate?
