Maximizing Productivity: Unmanned continuously order picking with Cube Storage and VLMs
Capitalize on your storage investment by allowing our robot pick orders when the rest of the staff is home sleeping or enjoying the weekend.
Reasons to invest
- You already have VLMs or cube storage that you would benefit picking from outside normal working hours without additional operational cost.
- You would benefit from faster order picking resulting in faster shipment to you customer.
- You would benefit being less dependent on manual labor stabilizing picking performance together with a low predictable picking cost.
What you get
- A robot that can pick orders from you existing storage setup in evenings, nights and weekends when the rest of the staff is out.
Items to pick
- Smaller, non-fragile, suction cup friendly items. Items not larger than 25 cm and less than 3 kg is a good fit.
Order structure
- Orders with up to 8 order lines is a good start.
Performance
- Typical performance is 10 to 50 orders per hour (dependent on order structure).
- If you can make the robot pick evenings, nights and weekends, you may save a day or two on shipment time.
Capacity
- You should have a need of getting between 200 and 1000 orders picked per day.
Infrastructure
- Thanks to the robot’s vertical picking and bin-handling capabilities, this solution requires minimal infrastructure. All that’s needed is a small amount of floor space for the order bin racks and a few safety barriers, such as fences, to ensure human safety. With these simple provisions, you’re all set.
- The good thing about this solution is that at any time, you may put the robot in park position and do the order picking yourself. Or even park the robot so you can do storage replenishment in the same port used for picking.
- It is worth mentioning that the robot can pick to other setups than order bin racks. If you have other setups in mind, let us discuss.
WMS/IT integration
- Our order picking solutions are designed to act as close to a human as possible where ´what orders to pick´ type of commands are more common than ´how to pick´ commands. Exception handling features also make sure order picking is being continued even if some restrictions are present.
- These features and more should reduce the need of larger changes to any WMS/IT systems.
Business case
- Capitalize on already invested storage systems.
- Achieve faster shipment by picking orders outside normal working hours.
- Predictable order picking performance and costs.
- Up to 75% reduction in manual labor.
Risks
- Any automation projects includes risks trust in the solution being the biggest.
- Our solutions do not block for a manual labor takeover at any time for any reasons reducing the risk off critical production stops while waiting for the right service personnel (own or others).
